Why this tool

Built for photo downloads

  • Original upload resolution

You get the largest file Instagram stored, typically 1080px on the long edge, rather than a thumbnail.

  • No screenshot artefacts

Screenshots capture your screen’s pixel density and any interface chrome. A real download is a clean, borderless JPG.

  • Handles multi-image posts

If the link turns out to be a carousel, we surface every image so you can grab the one you actually wanted.

  • Instant and unlimited

Photos are small, so extraction is near-instant, and there is no cap for normal personal use.

Save Instagram photos at full resolution, not screenshot quality

The instinct is to screenshot, and it is almost always the wrong call. A screenshot bakes in your screen resolution, any visible interface, and a second compression pass. On a phone you often end up with a smaller, softer image than the one you were looking at.

Downloading pulls the actual stored JPG. On a modern upload that is a clean 1080-pixel image with no borders and no interface — the file itself, not a picture of your screen.

  • Clean JPG with no interface chrome
  • Largest resolution Instagram retained
  • Carousel posts expand to show every image

A note on resolution limits

Instagram re-encodes every upload and discards the photographer’s original. Whatever the source camera produced, the platform keeps a version capped around 1080 pixels on the long edge.

That means no downloader — this one included — can return a higher-resolution file than Instagram stored. Any service promising 4K from an Instagram post is upscaling, which invents detail rather than recovering it.

FAQ

Photo downloader questions

Common questions about instagram photo downloader.

The largest version Instagram retained. For modern uploads that is usually 1080 pixels on the long edge. Instagram does not keep the untouched original from the photographer, so no tool can exceed that ceiling.
A screenshot captures your screen, not the file — you inherit interface elements, your device’s scaling, and a second round of compression. Downloading gives you the stored JPG exactly as Instagram serves it.
We detect that it is a carousel and return every image in the post. You can download them individually, or switch to the carousel downloader for the full album view.
Private accounts are only visible to approved followers, and we deliberately do not bypass that. If you see a “private media” error, the post is not public and cannot be fetched.
No. Every tool on this site is free, unlimited for public posts, and works without registration, browser extensions, or app installs.
Yes. We only process public Instagram content, never ask for your password, and store nothing beyond anonymous usage counts. Downloaded media stays subject to the original creator’s rights, so use it for personal reference or with permission.
